Lost Egypt: Ancient Secrets, Modern Science

Uncover the secrets of Egypt for yourself. Visit Lost Egypt and you'll be amazed by what you can learn from the modern forensic techniques, like X-rays, CT scans and facial reconstructions, that have been applied to the human and animal mummies featured in the exhibit. The more personal stories that are revealed from underneath the wrappings give us greater insight into the daily lives of this ancient people. In addition, you can explore art and artifacts, and connect with real scientists through video interviews and photographs of their work in the field. With theatrical sets, realistic props and tons of hands-on activities, Lost Egypt makes a real connection with the past, and helps us understand more than ever before.

MUMMIES: SECRETS OF THE PHARAOHS

Learn about the awesome 19th-century find of 40 hidden royal tombs, and what modern science can tell us about these incredible discoveries. Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaohs flashes back to tell the story of the pharaohs, of the first Egyptologist who was determined to uncover the tomb of a true pharaoh, and how that determination led him past the Valley of the Kings to a remote cave that yielded one of the greatest finds in history. Mummies also presents modern explorations of the genetic information scientists hope to obtain. Could DNA from a 4,000 year old mummy help doctors and scientists find a cure for diseases today? It just might be possible!

Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal is home to the Cincinnati History Museum, Duke Energy Children's Museum, the Museum of Natural History & Science, the Robert D. Lindner Family OMNIMAX Theater and the Cincinnati Historical Society Library.

It is a nationally recognized educational and research resource and one of the top cultural attractions in the Midwest. Cincinnati Museum Center serves more than 1.47 million visitors annually, reaching out to almost 200,000 young people through hands-on exhibits and programs. As a center for the entire community, over 700 events are held in the building each year.

Originally built in 1933 as the Union Terminal train station, the building is a national historic landmark and was renovated and reopened as Cincinnati Museum Center in 1990. Summer is here along with the return of Free Fridays to Cincinnati Museum Center starting on June 16 from 4 to 8 p.m.
